Heal through homeopathy

Women's Health

Homeopathy has a wide range of remedies that can help support women’s health through the ages, from grandmothers to mothers and daughters.

The article below highlights the different health issues that women may face at different stages in their life and how they may be helped with homeopathy.

Grandmothers face inevitable health issues

Grandmothers of the baby boomer generation had the time of their lives in the swinging sixties and were the first to enjoy free health care on the NHS. Research suggests that improvements in medicine and standards of living mean women in developed countries are now healthier and are now living longer3, with the probability of women surviving past 80 years of age doubling since 1950. If this trend of increased life expectancy continues then their daughters and granddaughters could be living even longer, whilst being healthier.

There are some health issues that women are unable to avoid as they reach their fifties and beyond, including the menopause which can be a time of great physical and emotional change. Sepia 30C can help with some of the physical symptoms that include hot flushes and irregular periods. Ignatia 30c can also be useful for the emotional upsets that occur during the menopause as many women experience mood swings which can range from upset and tearful to irritable. Inevitably as women get older and the body begins to slow down aching joints, rheumatic, arthritic and muscular pain can become a regular occurrence. Rhus tox 30c can help ease these symptoms.

Mothers face ‘burn out’

Many mums don’t take time out to relax. They are too busy looking after the children (and often their husband too), cooking and cleaning, often all whilst holding down a job. It is therefore not surprising that mums can face ‘burn out’ if they are not careful. Kali Phos 30c can assist in relieving exhaustion from overwork and the strains of everyday life, helping to keep the nation’s mums soldiering on.

Often the most difficult task for new mums is getting a good night’s sleep. When a child is teething it can often result in a restless sleep, and mums being woken up by a screaming baby. Homeopathic Chamomilla can provide babies with soothing and calming relief from the symptoms of teething, helping little ones have a restful night’s sleep whilst teething. Ignatia 30c can also help mums to have a restful night’s sleep, so they are ready to face the next busy day ahead.

Daughters facing the teenage years

The teenage years can be a difficult time with teenage girls facing a rollercoaster of emotions due to hormonal changes. PMT most commonly affects teenagers and women in their early twenties and can cause them to be moody, irritable and upset, however Nat mur 30c can help with these symptoms. Teenagers can also face irregular menstrual cycles, which can be helped with Pulsatilla 30c*, whilst period pains which can cause teenagers great discomfort can be eased with Calc Carb 30c.

Spots are the bane of teen life. Just when teenage girls are most sensitive about their looks they suffer a ‘blemish break-out’, with 80% of teenagers suffering from blemishes to some degree4. It is a wide spread myth that spots are caused by forgetting to wash, or even by eating a plate of chips, however they are actually caused by oil that comes from the skin itself.  The good news is that blemishes can be helped with homeopathic remedies.
